At the ERP HEADtoHEAD™ Ireland event, held on October 14–15, 2025 at the Crowne Plaza Dublin Airport Hotel, we had the honor of representing Metal Service Centre and exploring the world of cutting-edge ERP solutions for manufacturing companies.

The goal of the event was clear - to compare leading ERP systems in a fair and transparent format, where each provider presented their solution under identical scenarios. This allowed us to see, in real time, how different systems perform in real-world situations.

Solutions from well-known companies such as IFS Cloud, SAP S/4HANA, Oracle NetSuite, and others were showcased.

Why this mattered for Metal Service Centre

For our company, this was more than just a conference - it was a strategic milestone. After carefully evaluating all the options, we decided to continue with IFS, the system we have been using for years, but with a new goal: to fully leverage its advanced capabilities that have not yet been used to their full potential.

Our next steps are to:

• Expand the use of IFS within production to better track processes, machine performance, and quality control,
• Improve visibility into warehouse and material flow - from incoming material to the finished product,
• Connect IFS with data analytics and visual dashboards,
• And ultimately align the entire process - from order to shipment - to strengthen our core values: reliability, speed, and technical quality.

Three key takeaways from the event

1. Comprehensive overview of the ERP market - we gained a clear understanding of how different systems meet the needs of modern industry and where IFS stands out.
2. Validation of our strategy - the decision to stay with IFS is the right one; now it’s time to go deeper and unlock its full potential.
3. Motivation for change - we were inspired by innovations such as AI in planning, advanced data analytics, cloud extensions, and mobile applications, all of which can significantly enhance our daily operations.
